Game 13
With the deep freeze outside and the constant blast of winter we have been getting over the last few days it seems like the perfect time to play close to home against the other Mount Brydges Blue squad. Our Goldiggers have been working hard and are ready to battle these guys in pursuit of the all important bragging rights and the 2 points. We had Liam out of the lineup tonight so 3 forward lines and 2 sets of defense makes up our 13 skaters plus two goalies. Hoefy gets the start and Watsy finishes this one for better or worse....

Rumor has it, we scared the PeeWee Blue Head Coach away as he was nowhere to be found tonight. I was told he ran away to Florida to avoid the intense battle and constant pressure of playing the mighty gold squad. I hope the weather warmed up down there for you Coach Bryan ;-) You missed a great game!
These teams played one of the best battles we have had all year. Our kids played fantastic every shift and never let off the gas. The goldiggers were taking the play to the Blue squad for much of the first two periods but their goalie Eric aka Ebay had a great night and made many awesome saves to keep us off the board. In our end. Hoefy matched this performanace in the first half with another very solid game and 0 goals against tonight. Late in the 2nd period we had a power play and were moving the puck around in the offensive zone. Big Denny of the opposition intercepted a pass and got a breakaway to score the first goal of the game with 1:30 left to play in the 2nd. Ben tried but really didn't have much of a chance on it and our kids did not let the goal against take the wind out of our sails.
Our strong play continued in the 3rd period, we kept battling hard and pressing their net. The Blue squad was getting some opportunities as well but Ben made several very nice saves to keep them at 1 goal. Time was ticking down and Coach Ryan was waiting for an opportunity to pull Ben for the extra attacker. As our guys got control of the puck and skated into the neutral zone Coach Ryan called Ben to the bench and Carson went flying out the forward door for the extra attacker. Fortunately this would last only a few seconds before Braedan Viana scored the equalizer assisted by AJ Duffy with only 1:15 left to play in the game. Ben would return to the pipes and we played out the last minute with no more scoring. The game ended with a final score of 1-1
This was the best game our team has played all season. The kids did a lot of things right in this contest, passing, puck handling, battling along the boards, defensive gap control, pressure on the puck, the list goes on. Anytime you can keep this opposing team to a single goal is a great game. Great job everyone!
We play again in the morning so rest up and be ready to rock and roll! It's Game Day!
