Play Off Round 2, Game 2 and 3
Hi Folks, sorry we missed game 2 as the Watson clan was basking in the sun down in Florida. From all accounts, the Golddiggers played an awesome game 2 and brought home the huge game 2 victory with a final score of 3-2, Great job team!
Now we are on to the 3rd and final game of what has been a very fun and successful season for our team.....

We are short lots of players this Easter weekend with 6 players missing from the lineup. A big thanks to Jackson Emerick (wearing #3) for stepping in to help us out (with consent from the opposition coaching staff of course:) We appreciate your hard work Jackson, you did a great job! I'm sure you will be a big asset to your Peewee team next season.

We finished the season in fine form, the Goldiggers worked very hard as they have done all season and gave the Big Blue squad a very tough battle. Unfortunately we fell a bit short today as the Blue squad won the game with a final score of 5-3. Our goal scorers were Carson Vanderweg with 2 and Logan Doxtator with 1. The assists were awarded to Braedan Viana with 2 and Logan Doxtator with 1. We tried hard late in the game to get back in it by pulling Ben but Blue managed to score an empty netter. A minute or so later we took advantage of a power play by pulling Ben again with  a faceoff deep in the offensive zone to give us a 2 man advantage. This resulted in our 3rd and final goal. Time ticked down and the game and our season came to a close.

I think it is fair to say this season was a huge success by anyone's standards. I am speaking for all the bench staff when I say these kids were just a super pleasure to work with. We wish all players huge success in whatever your future endeavours may be. Take a few things you learned this season along with the work ethic you displayed and apply them in your daily lives moving forward and you are sure to succeed.

To the coaches, Ryan, Mark D. and Mark E., you sure earned the respect of these kids by doing such an outstanding job behind the bench and on the ice during the amazing practices we had this year. We don't often see such outstanding coaching at the local league level. Our team was very lucky to have you guys behind the bench this season. Furthermore, I don't want to forget to mention the important contributions of Jamie Bond by working so well with our goalies at each practice and his time spent in the time-keepers box this season. A big thanks also goes to Raegan Harding for her time spent as our Team Manager and Parent Rep. A big shout out goes to the Viana family for looking after the jerseys which is a very big job not to mention the the generous support all season. The delicious treats you provided after each game was enjoyed by all and your sponsorship of our practice jerseys and the March Break tournament are truly appreciated. Finally it was an honour for me to be the Trainer of such an outstanding group of kids. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment as door man and thankfully my first aid kit wasn't needed much, only a few minor cuts and bruises to deal with all season. It has been a pleasure doing the write-ups as I know the families and players enjoy reading them.

To the Goldigger parents and grandparents, thanks for being such a fantastic group and for all the team support given from the stands during each game and for bringing your player to the arena week in and week out. I believe the kids get out of a season as much as they put into it. This includes the all important parents/guardians who have to be as devoted as the players. Based on the incredible skill development and personal bests we saw from many of our players this season, everyone should take satisfaction in a job well done. I know the kids learned a lot about the game and had a great time playing this season. Hopefully some of the parents made new friendships with other parents. I know that many of the players made new friends this season as well. In my opinion, this is what hockey and any other team sport is really about!

I have heard rumblings the team fun isn't quite over yet. A year end team party is in the works, watch for an email from Coach Ryan or Reagan for details after the plans are finalized.

All the best everyone!
Trainer Pat
