Play Off Round 2, Game 1
The clash of the titans started in Mount Brydges tonight. Team Big Blue vs the Gold Diggers. It's March Break and some kids are missing on both teams, the question is who would pick up the slack, work the hardest and bring home the first 2 points of the 6 point series tonight????.....
The answer is not us, we lost the game 2-1.
One of the possible theories for the loss is our team had a bit of "Easy Game Syndrome" today thinking this would be an easy win since Big Blue was missing Denny. I know from listening to Ben earlier he is guilty of this and I'm sure everyone else was too. Another lession to be learned for the Golddiggers, the Big Blue team didn't come in 3rd place in the A Division because of one player. They have a bunch of snipers that are capable of scoring at any given moment not to mention great goaltenders between the pipes.
We got caught a couple times and gave up goals after 2 breakaways. We started skating a bit harder in the last half of the game and managed to press and get lots of chances. Braedan Viana scored our first goal with Ben pulled late in the 3rd to narrow the gap to 1 goal with 1:14 left to play. We pressed hard to tie the game but no dice.
The 2nd possible theory for the loss is Coach Ryan decided to take it easy on the Blue squad and give them game one because they were short players. Why not stretch this series out as long as possible by giving them the first game? The more hockey the merrier since the season is coming to a close soon. Sounds good to me ;-)
You decide, I say we pick it up and go for it in game 2!
