Hello families of the Atom Red hockey team,
What a great week of hockey, 3 games and a practice! All our games were tight and we needed all of our players to “step-it-up” and this week.
Our Player of the Week did exactly what we asked of her and her team.
She has been playing the best hockey of the season and with hard work and determination scored her first goal! Our Player of the Week almost scored again in her second game! In our third game, she continued to display smart, disciplined hockey, doing everything she can to get the puck out of our end.
At our practices, she is always doing her best and continues to improve her skating, stopping and stick handling abilities. She continues to improve all aspects of her game and listens extremely well during games. Our Player of the Week continues to improve and gets to her position as fast as she can with her stick on the ice, ready to battle! Even though she is playing against hockey players that are twice her size, she is constantly doing everything she can to get the puck for her team. She has no fear of some of the giant kids she is lined-up against.
In the change room, she is always smiling and she is hustling to get her hockey equipment on and off. Like all great hockey players, when the game is over and equipment comes off, she is very meticulous about how to pack her bag, every piece of equipment has a certain place and it has to be there!
As the great baseball player Joe Dimaggio once said: “ A person who is always doing his or her best becomes a natural leader just by example.” You Sofia are a leader and a role model for all hockey players. You attitude and effort are to be commended.
