Player of the Week!
Welcome to our Player of the Week write-up where we acknowledge the hard work of one of our players.

This week, we had a player who made every practice and game. He is usually one of the first players in the change room and always has a great big smile when he is getting his hockey gear on. He is chatting with his hockey buddies and helping organize the jerseys. Our Player of the Week is always smiling and truly a positive influence on his team!

Our Player of the Week is "King of the One-Timers!"

What is a "one-timer?"

A “one-timer” happens when a player meets teammates pass with a quick shot on the net without any hesitation. The “one-timer” is awesome because it required precise timing of the pass, a quick shot on the net and takes into consideration the split second movements of the goalie. Our Player of the Week has demonstrated time and time again how to complete this difficult shot during our games. At our practices, he has shown us how to properly contact the puck and shoot it straight into the net. Skills like this are uncommon, it is only from practicing that our Player of the Week got so good!

Its totally AWESOME when he connects with his patented move during a game. (which we have all seen him do time and time again!)

NHLers who play left wing and have made a name for uncanny ability to connect with the puck are, Alex Ovechkin, Patrick Sharp, Brett Hull, just to name a few! This is pretty good company to be compared to!

Our Player of the Week makes smart decisions with the puck, can find an open lane, he fights through traffic with the puck, quite often comes out of traffic with the puck. Our Player of the Week has the speed and skills to bury the puck when he gets on breakaways, or, if he is starting the rush out of our end he can hit his teammates in the slot with a pass.

Our Player of the Week knows what to do in every situation because he is competitive, works hard and knows that hockey has to be fun.

At the end of every game, win, lose or tie, our Player of the Week is always smiling and having a good time with his teammates. He gives it everything he has during his games and that is what hockey is all about; working hard and having fun.

This week, our Player of the Week Cougar Cup, Certificate and Puck goes to:

#22 Nathan Woo

Great work Nathan, your smile lights-up the change room and your one-timers light-up the lamp!

Keep-up the great work!

Coach Dave
