Player of the Week!
Hello Parents and Players of the Atom Red hockey team!

With each passing game, the stress level increases and everyone on our team feels the pressure of a playoff run. Each player on our team plays a very intricate part in the success of our team. We have goal scorers, defensive walls. unstoppable wingers, play-makers and key goaltending but without our Player of the Week, it could all crumble under a mountain of stress.

And this is why our Player of the Week is such an intricate part of our team.

Our Player of the Week is always happy, smiling and joking with his teammates regardless of the score, the amount of pressure being put on our team by the opposition or, the short-handed/power play situation on the ice. Our Player of the Week is the person we can count on him to keep the atmosphere in the change room and on the bench light and relaxed.

Our Player of the Week shows everyone how much of a well-rounded player he is by occasionally lighting-up the lamp with a couple of goals. However, in the change room he enjoys the lighter side of hockey, talking with his pals about Pokemon and his video games, the fun he is having at school, making funny jokes and all round having fun with his hockey pals.

Just as Sidney Crosby once said: “I have been practicing since I was 4 or 5 but that wasn’t really practice. I was just having fun. I love to play hockey!”

This quote could have easily come from our Player of the Week.

Our Player of the Week works hard at his practices and games and lately he has been showing his hockey pals his amazing back-hander and snap-shot.  I observed our Player of the Week working on these skills at our practice and yes indeed, his shots were AWESOME!!

Rule #1 for our team is to have fun and this is very evident whenever our Player of the Week arrives. He shares his smiles, has an all-round great demeanour and positive presence with his hockey team.

It is my pleasure to give the Cougar Cup, Player of the Week certificate and puck to:
