Player of the Week
Hello parents and players of the Atom Red hockey team,

WOW! What another great week of hockey and once again, we watched our kids rise to the occasion and play their best hockey of the season. Every game all of our kids seem to get better and better. The players are listening to their coaches and implementing the advice given into every game.

This week, our Player of the Week demonstrated what it means to put the team first.

With only minutes before a game, the coach had to ask our Player of the Week to

play a position that he normally does not play and his response was “yup! I’ll play wherever you want me to play coach!” and our Player of the Week played his new position seamlessly contributing both offensively and defensively. After our game, I asked our Player of the Week where his favourite position "offense or defense?" was the question I asked and his response was a reflection of his passion for the game and love of his team. He said “I don't care, it doesn’t matter what position I play as long as I play hockey.”  This shows how much he enjoys playing hockey and how much of a great teammate he is.

As an author once wrote and our Player of the Week emphasized:

To play the game is good, to win is better.

But to love the game, is best of all.

Attitude is everything and our Player of the Week always has a great attitude towards his coaches and his teammates.

Our Player of the Week is constantly getting better and better, he is playing the best hockey of his season! Every week he is getting faster, stronger, out hustling the opposition and becoming more of a well-rounded player. When our Player of the Week is playing defense, his backward skating, stick handling and positioning are amazing. He has the skill, speed and determination to get the puck out of our end and protect our goalie. When he is on offense, he has lightning speed, soft hands and deceptive moves which results in numerous scoring chances.

In the change room, our Player of the Week puts smiles on everyone’s faces. While he is getting his equipment on, he still takes time to make jokes with his teammates. Our Player of the Week leaves his mark at every arena by leaving a “bottle flipped” bottle at the highest places.

It is my pleasure to award the Cougar Cup, Player of the Week certificate and puck to:

#7 Zac Fisher

Great work Zac, your smile lights-up the room and you are a workhorse on the ice!!

Keep-up your great play.

Coach Dave
