Player of the Week
Hello Mount Brydges Atom Blue Parents and Players!

It is the time of the week where we acknowledge the hard work of one of our players. Some players score lots of goals, and some get lots of assists. Some of our players are happy making incredible passes and some of our players enjoy preventing the other teams from scoring.

None of this is possible if you do not have what our Player of the Week has: CONFIDENCE!!!

The coaches of our team have watched our Player of the Week develop his confidence over the past 2 years. He is at the point where he is completely confident enough in his skating, and stick-handling abilities to take the puck out of our end, and drive to the net. He has the ability to chip the puck past some of the best forwards in the league. If someone intercepts his chip shot, he has the speed to get back and battle the opposing player. Usually resulting in our Player of the Week stripping the opposition of the puck.

I have seen him working hard at Larry Gazdigs. He applies the skills he is learning at Power Skating at our practices and games. He is constantly working on his shot in the basement of his house, and developing the skill to roof the puck into the air. On occasion, we have even watched him unload his slap shot from the blue line! If someone is able to get past him, he has the wheels to catch up to them, and do what he does best...defending his goalie and preventing the opposition from getting a shot on the goalie. His main goal on the ice is not to score goals, but to prevent them. This positive attitude has helped him become a valuable asset on our team.

If he is tripped and lying on the ice, he springs-up like a leopard and gets back into the play. If he is tripped and he is on his back, we have seen him do his patented “on-the-back", spin-around and knock-the-puck off the oppositions stick” move.

It is a great move that only he has perfected!!

The entire team benefits from all of his hard work at practices and Power Skating, and also his continuous time he spends working on his shot off the ice.

Our Cougar Cup, Player of the Week Certificate and Cougar Puck goes to:

#2 Braedan Viana

Fantastic work Braedan!

When the time is right (and you will know when) drive to the net, and get a goal for the team!!

Coach Dave
