Player of the Week
Hello Parents and Players of the Atom Blue Hockey team,

We have seen our Player of the Week play many positions through-out the regular season and he has never complained. He usually asks the coaches which position he is playing before the game because he is so versatile. He can play anywhere and we all know he is dangerous in any position!

Our Player of the Week is quick as lightning, has a defensemens vision, a wingers abrasive grit and a centermans scoring touch.

Our Player of the Week knows how well each of his teammates can play. He has a “team first” attitude which translates into conversations on the bench and encourages everyone to be their best.  He wants everyone to work as hard as they can because he knows that when everyone is passing and playing their positions, we are unbeatable.

The expectations he has of his teammates are reflective of his own expectations. He works hard every shift and comes off the ice when he is tired. He knows when he made a mistake and he knows when he made a great play. He praises his teammates when they do something really well and discusses with them when opportunities are missed.

Our Player of the Week expects from his teammates only what he expects from himself; an all-out 110% effort every shift, every practice, every game.

He defends his goaltender and other players, occasionally this lands him in the penalty box. This is because our Player of the Week  treats all players with respect will not allow any team to mistreat or disrespect any of his hockey buddies.

Another example of having a “team first” attitude is when our goalie received a penalty. This puts the coaching staff in an awkward position because someone has to serve it for the goalie. We asked the kids on the bench who is willing to sit in the penalty box for 2 minutes to serve a penalty for their goalie. Without any hesitation our Player of the Week stepped-up and agreed to serve it.

It is my pleasure to give the Player of the Week Cougar Cup, Certificate and Puck to:

Great work Peyton, it is easy to see how much you love the game and enjoy your teammates when you are smiling after every game and practice.
