Player of the Week
Hello Parents and Players of the Atom Blue hockey team,
There is an old saying and it goes something like this: "some people want it to happen, some people wish it to happen and some people make it happen," Our Player of the Week makes it happen every game. He is always working hard and he knows the simple fact that if we have the puck, they can't score!
Quite often our Player of the Week is the one with the puck, digging it out of the corners and feeding it to his forwards BUT,
on occasion he is bitten by the scoring bug and goes end-to-end rifling the puck "bar-down!" He practices his shooting for hours at his house and his shooting skills have progressed to the point where they are no longer goals, they are highlights, goals of the year quality! He is sniping corners and dangling the puck, doing toe-drags and dipsy-doodling around the opposition with ease. The hours he spends in the drive-way and in the basement practicing his shot is paying dividends for the team. Our Player of the Week is the only player on the team to score using a slap-shot. Word is spreading and fear is in the eyes of the opposing goalies when he winds-up to unload his cannon.
He has been developing his skills as a defenseman to become even better. We all know his about his scoring ability however this year, he is working on his defensive game to become more of a complete player. He picks his time and knows who is open, when to pass and when to take the puck from end to end and shoot. He has developed the ability to see the entire ice, even when the opposing team is pressuring him.
Our Player of the Wee has a love of the game that is matched by the great Wendel Clarke. Coincidentally, both our Player of the Week and Wendel Clarke have the same jersey number. Coincidence or a look into the future.....
Wendel played in the NHL for the beloved Maple Leafs and if our Player of the Week continues his hard work, he may someday follow in Wendels footsteps and play there as well.
