Play Off Game 2
The second play off game today started off with our team playing a little tentative in the first period. I'm not sure what it is with this team but it always seems to take a good portion of the first period before we get our feet under us......

Late in the first period Strathroy opened the scoring with 2:22 left. About 1 minute later Caleb MacGowan scored our first goal after a nice pass from Owen tying the game at 1 each going into the 2nd.
In the second period, after a great effort and serious determination by Zack Deleary he scored a beautiful unassisted goal putting us up 2-1. Strathroy answered back with 1:34 left  to tie the game. Late in the 2nd a Strathroy player decided to try and stop Casey on a break away by throwing his stick at the puck. Casey missed the shot and the refs let it go. Jay and I were quick to call the ref over and mention the stick throwing incident but the ref said he didn't see it. On the next play the same thing happened again and we were given a penalty shot. Casey was up to the task and made a beautiful move around the goalie to put the puck in the net. The kids were pumped so we left that line on for a little longer hoping to capitalize on their adrenaline rush and it worked, 56 seconds later Caden scored after a nice pass from Casey.
The score was 4-2 going into the 3rd period. We knew we had to keep the pressure on, Strathroy Red is a good team and if we drop our guard they will be on us in no time. The third period saw some great defensive hockey and we managed to shut them down. Caden scored an awesome unassisted goal at the 4:17 mark making the final score 5-2.
Congratulations to our Heart & Hustle award winner Ben Watson for playing a great defensive game today, keep up the great work. Remember defense, controlling the goals against is one of the keys to winning this series.
The whole team played a fantastic game today, keep up the great work everyone! See you in Strathroy for game 3 Sunday afternoon.
