Game 19 & 20 Double-Header Road Trip
Novice Red wound up our regular season today with two games played back to back on the road. The first game was in Huron Park at 11am against the South Huron Sabres Red Team. The second game was in St Mary's at 1:45pm against the St Marys Rock 2 team. The roads were a little slick due to the snow but we managed OK......

The first game was a very close battle, we took an early lead but the South Huron team managed to battle back and tie it up in the 3rd. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Congrats to our Heart & Hustle award winner Morgan Butlin for playing a solid game and scoring a nice goal. Noah also scored a beauty on one of his famous Bobby Orr style rushes. This tie gives us the one point we needed to tie Novice White in our Division for 3rd place. We know if we can manage a tie or win in our second game we would secure 3rd place to ourselves.
The second game in St Mary's started out great with Keenan opening the scoring with assists going to Bryce and Morgan. In the second period Deacon scored with assists going to Keenan and Jorja. The St Marys team answered back with two in the 2nd making the score 2-2 going into the 3rd. After a few minutes of end to end play St Mary's took a 3-2 lead but we didn't give up. Deacon found the back of the net again to score his second of the game and tie it at 3 each with about 5 minutes left to play. We played hard and bounced a few off the post and cross bar and had a goal waved off because it apparently went in after the whistle. The bounces didn't go our way and with 1 minute left in the game St Marys scored to take a 4-3 lead. We tried hard in the last minute to get it back but it wasn't meant to be. The final score was 4-3 for St Mary's. Congrats to our Heart & Hustle award winner Caleb MacGowan for a really excellent effort and a great game.
The playoffs are starting soon and our first round schedule will be sorted out this Tuesday so watch for details on our calendar. I will be away on business Tuesday- Friday so Brian Brown will be attending the playoff scheduling meeting on Tuesday night in Strathroy. Congratulations goes out to everyone on Novice Red for a very solid showing and amazing progress during the regular season. Keep up the great work and lets have some fun and see how far we can go in the playoffs! See everyone a practice on Monday.
