Game 24
The 2nd last regular season game for the Great White Atoms was held in Metropolitan Downtown Alvinston earlier tonight at the world famous Brooke-Alvinston Community Centre. Ok maybe not quite so glamourus but the hockey was truly worth the price of admission tonight.......

We came out strong off the opening faceoff and the play went down into the opponent's zone. We tested the goalie early and not long after that it was Ben's turn to make his first save. OK, the first shift ends with no scoring after great chances at both ends. Next shift we come into the East Lambton end hard and pressed the net. Cole Abbey moves the puck across the DJ Elijah who is position perfectly in the zone and blasts our first goal in. Great start boys, lets keep it going! The first period continues and we are seeing a fair number of chances but the East Lambton goalie was shutting the door on us, that is until the 1:54 mark near the end of the first period. Bryce Carruthers receives a beautiful pass from Cobyn Dias and makes no mistake scoring a beauty. Great job Cobyn and Bryce, excellent team work! Towards the end of the first Ben took a slash to the wrist area, it stung and he was hurting pretty good. Just a minor bruise is all that is left now to show that he took one for the team.
The 2nd period wasn't anything to get too excited about, we played Ok but couldn't get the puck in the net. East Lambton managed to score after some nice passing deep in our zone to get on the board and narrow the gap to one goal.
Early in the 3rd East Lambton scored again to tie it up with 13:01 left to play. Thankfully the kids didn't get down and Cole Abbey picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and went full out for the break away and picked the top corner with ease to give us back the one goal lead with 12:31 left. We continued playing well in the 3rd and pressed hard. The opponents goalie was playing very well and made a ton of nice saves or this game could have been much more lop-sided. With 3:03 left to play Bryce Carruthers scored a much needed insurance goal to give us a 2 goal lead. The assists go to Colbey Relou and David Elijah after some very pretty passing, great job boys! We continued to hold East Lambton and the game ended with the good guys taking the 4-2 victory. Congrats to all players for a well earned victory and to Cobyn Dias for winning the 5 bucks for the nice assist tonight. This is the 2nd game in a row Cobyn has racked up assists! Keep it going boys, we are stronger when we work together like we saw tonight. Get a good nights sleep and we'll see you in Lambeth tomorrow for our final regular season game.
GO COUGARS GO!
