Playoff Finals Game 2
Every game at this time of year is a toss up as far as who may come out on top. Lucan and the Great White Atoms are two tough teams. We had a short bench tonight with a couple out of the lineup due to the March Break....sometimes this can help and sometimes it can hurt. Tonight's game was one of those games where I'm not sure what the heck happened........

I think the March Break has started a bit too soon! The problem is we got out-hustled, out-played and out-scored in the 2nd game of the series. Things are all tied up which I guess when you think about it, this really shouldn't come to anyone as a big surprise. The Great White Atom's are the underdog and most are expecting a long series.
The first period and second period I feel we got outplayed pretty much at all times. We had about 2-3 shots on net in the first and 2nd the majority of the time was spent in our zone. Lucan was hustling and scored first at the 9:18 mark of the 2nd period. We didn't get much in the way of scoring opportunities and the 2nd period ended 1-0 for Lucan. Early in the 3rd Cole Abbey got a bit of room and roofed one to tie it up assisted by David Elijah and Spencer Emerick. It wasn't long before Lucan answered back after sneaking one in from a tight angle to regain the 1 goal lead. About 3 and a half minutes later Lucan scored again after a scramble in front with 7:01 to play and go up by two. We managed to get the puck to the net and Cole Abbey scored at the 5:27 mark to narrow the gap to 1 goal. Lucan didn't let that get to them and the clock was becoming the enemy, they scored another goal with 2:53 left to play making the score 4-2. The clock was ticking down and Coach Mark pulled Ben with about a minute and a half left. We tried but to no avail. Lucan plunked in an empty-netter with .36 left to play to make the final score 5-2.
We have to shake off the loss and get ready for game 3 next weekend. David Elijah takes home the $5 bucks for the primary assist on Cole's first goal. Great job David, keep working on those clean crisp passes.
Don't get discouraged because of the loss kids, just dig deep and bring your A game each and every shift. Nothing less will git'r done against Lucan. I know we can do it!!! GO COUGARS GO!!!!
