Game 18
The Great White Atoms played the Aylmer Flames 2 team today. Our undefeated streak in the regular season is on the line again. The question is, would we be up for the challenge of defending it once again????

Aylmer was certainly going to play hard after the defeat we handed them in the semi-finals at the Silverstick. Sure enough this game would be a close tough battle. Aylmer wasted no time opening the scoring after only 14 seconds of play. We played hard and managed to answer back with the equalizer just over two minutes later. Cole Abbey gets credit with the goal and the assist goes to Lynden Luis. About 5 minutes later Cole scored again with the assists going to Spencer Emerick and Cole Haywood.
The 2nd period was a bit ugly with a lot of poor positional play and a lot of puck chasing, too many individual efforts were shut down due to the lack of team play and very little passing was taking place. Cole Abbey scored an unassisted goal at the 5 minute mark and Aylmer answered back with 2:24 left in the 2nd to make it 3-2 going into the 3rd.
In the final period we were chasing the puck all over the ice without much thought to playing positions. Aylmer was playing hard trying to even it up and sure enough they tied the game at 3 each with 2:23 to play. We stay tied and each team takes home a point.
Our team is capable of playing much better than we saw today, the coaches are stressing the importance and passing the puck and working together as a team. Unfortunately today we didn't see too much of this from our forwards. Our game sheet today tells the story quite clearly, all 3 assists were posted by our defense. No forwards registered an assist today. I even tried bribing the kids into passing more by putting up 5 bucks for the nicest assist which went to Lynden Luis today on Cole's first goal. I hope we can find a way to get the passing game working better before our next game against Lucan. If we don't, I see our undefeated streak coming to a halt very soon.
I am pledging another $5.00 for the player with nicest passing in our next game against Lucan.....who will it be???
