Game 16
The last game of 2018 was against Point Edward who made the drive to Mount Brydges last night for a 6:00pm contest. We had a few out of the lineup today due to the holidays but not enough to use as an excuse. With over two lines and 4 coaches on the bench we're good to go. I chose to sit this one out as Karen & I have been ill lately, thanks Dan Gregory for taking the reins as trainer....
One of the real strengths with the Point Edward Blackhawks is their defence. The last time we played we had trouble getting pucks to their net and this would prove to be the same problem today with only about 7-8 quality shots on their goal. The first shot we had looked like a goal from my vantage point. The goalie went down on his pads and I'm sure I could see the puck behind him in the net but the ref couldn't see it from his angle of view. He thought it was covered and blew the whistle ending the play...PE dodges the first bullet we had.
They would open the scoring late in the first and again in the 2nd period they scored with our net off the posts. Again the refs ruled in Point Edwards favour and they lead by 2. It would be the 3rd period before we managed to get one past them when Lynden Luis scored at the 13:38 mark assisted by Colbey Relou.
The game would end with a 3-1 loss which could have been quite different with a few breaks. Good effort everyone, we'll get them next time.
