Game 14
Last night we were in the town of Ilderton facing the Jets on the home ice of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. I was hoping to see the famous ice dancers come out to watch our game but I guess they had previous commitments. That's ok, our team showed up and that is what matters.....

We had a better compliment of players this time around with just 4 missing from the lineup. Today Coach Mark had  2 lines to work with and it sure makes a big difference when the kids get a rest between shifts and the stability of playing with same linemates. We started strong and the first goal was scored by Lynden Luis with the assist going to Jackson Emerick at the 8:51 mark. Ilderton answered back at 5:24 and then we pulled ahead at 3:33 of the 1st period when Colton Cordeiro scored, assisted by Lynden Luis and Colbey Relou.

The 2nd period really wasn't that great for us, not sure why but we didn't seem as sharp and as Coach Mark would say afterwards, we are capable of playing much better. We didn't score in the 2nd and Ilderton got one back with 1:21 on the clock to tie the game going into the 3rd.

In the 3rd period we seemed to start playing better and about half way through the period at the 7:12 mark Paolo Casavecchia made no mistake when a loose puck presented itself in front of the Ilderton net. This huge goal put us up by one with the assists going to Lynden Luis and Colton Wilson. Colbey Relou was next to score at 2:41 assisted by Colton Wilson and Paolo Casavecchia. Colbey Relou would score again with an adrenaline goal with 2:04 left on the clock putting us up by 3. I think at this point our team started the celebration a bit too soon, the Ilderton Jets were not done yet and the next few minutes would turn my hair another shade of grey. They scored at the 1:49 mark narrowing the gap then again with just under a minute to play with :57 excruciating seconds left on the clock. They were pumped after scoring 2 quick ones on us. They pulled their goalie and pressed hard in our zone and almost tied it up. Thankfully the buzzer sounded after what seemed like an eternity! We managed to hang on and bring home the 2 points and the 5-4 victory. WOW....what a game! Scott & Tessa....you missed a beauty!

This victory is a great way to start our Christmas holidays and sets the stage for our next battle against St Mary's after Christmas. All the best over the holidays! The Coaching staff extend best wishes to all over the holidays. May you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
