Game January 4, 2016
Happy New Year everyone! We're back to school (and work) after a nice holiday and the team was itching to get back to the action. We were playing a tough Mount Brydges squad again today that wanted to play hard and end our undefeated streak. It's Game Day...Are We Ready????......

This is our second game against Jamie Bond's Atom Gold team. They are a very strong squad and we need to be on our toes if we are to get the win.
Minor hockey has a tendancy to throw in unplanned curve balls every now and again.  Sometimes a team will face some sort of adversity that throws them off during a game. Tonight the curve ball was in our favor when the opponents goalie didn't show until mid way through the 2nd period. This unfortunate occurance made our job a bit easier tonight. Coach Ryan was a bit concerned our kids would change their game plan and he stressed that they should play their game as though their goalie was in net. We weren't sure how this would effect them and if 6 opposing players would put a lot of extra pressure in our zone. Let's find out...
After a number of great opportunities and shots that were stopped by our opponent we finally got a puck into the open net when Aiden Sinclair scored with the assist going to Evan Thomas just after the 5 minute mark of period 1. Only 10 seconds later Aiden scores his 2nd goal with the assists going to Denny Doxtator and Tess Alcock.
Early in the 2nd period Denny unleashes that cannon of a wrist shot after a nice rush making it 3-0. Shortly after Denny's goal the opposing goalie made his appearance while I was fixing a loose strap on Ben's pads. About 3 minutes later with 6:21 left on the clock in the 2nd period Evan Thomas scores after a nice high shot with the assists going to Tess and Aiden.
With 13:36 on the clock Denny sent another bullet shot from the point and made no mistake scoring his 2nd goal of the game. About 6 minutes later Jacob Molnar finds the mesh with a nice goal and the assists went to Dillon Lynch and Sam Stewart. We saw some great passing and hard work tonight! This goal was a great example of that team work. Our final goal of the game was Aiden's Hat Trick scored at the 5:58 mark of the 3rd....it can only be described as the "back hand reverse flipporama shot" from high in the slot. The poor goalie had to be looking in the rafters to see this one coming...it went pretty much straight up and down into the net behind the goalies head. Congrats on the hat trick Aiden, great game!
Coach Mark commented after the game how well Tess Alcock played today, she definitely played a fantastic game back on the blueline with one of her best games ever! Congrats on 2 points and a great game Tess. Will Stuart played a fantastic game as well, probably one of the best games I have seen him play yet! In fact, everyone was playing well today, great job team!
I think we are ready for Silver Stick! Our undefeated streak is now at 18 games. The Atom Red freight train is departing for the Niagara Penninsula to play the Silver Stick on Thursday.....let's keep it going!!! Friday is GAME DAY! BE READY!!!!
