Playoff Round 1, Game 3
The battle to 6 points definitely going to take a little longer than 3 games with these two teams. After 3 hard fought games the points race is all tied up at 3 each. Both teams have 1 win, 1 loss and 1 tie..........
This game was a nail-biter just like the last two. We came out flying in the first period and Quin scored first with the assist going to Cole Hampson. In the 2nd period Gavin was next to score after a nice rush unassisted at the 4:49 mark then Cole Abbey scored our 3rd goal with 2:12 left on the clock in period 2. The Aylmer Flames were not about to give up and narrowed the gap with a goal late in period 2 to make it 3-1 going into the 3rd.
In the 3rd period it was like having a tiger by the tail. The Aylmer Flames were playing hard and kept pressing. About half way through the 3rd they scored to make it 3-2. We were playing hard but couldn't score. Time was ticking and I was hoping we could hang on but the opponent had the momentum and managed to tie the game with 2:07 left on the clock. The last couple minutes saw some chances at both ends but no scoring and the game ended with a tie. Congratulations to our Heart & Hustle award winner, Ben Watson for a fantastic defensive game today. Keep up the great work Ben! I thought the whole team played well today. Everyone was working very hard every shift. Keep it up, this is the only way we will prevail against this tough opponent. I look forward to seeing everyone at practice Thursday.
