WILD WEEKEND!!!!
The weather's getting colder and the days shorter, but that is not deterring the incredible Novice Blue sqaud from playing some fantastic hockey.

We played against Novice Red on Saturday morning and in all my years of coaching, I ain't never seen anything like this before.  We had our backup goalie, Ethan Bond in net and have recently been teaching the kids positions.  Well, in what was a very crazy game, we ended up on the losing end 11-9.  That's right........11-9.  It was back and forth all game but the Red squad just wouldn't give it up for us.  They would score, then we would score.  Then they would score, then we would score.  All game it went like this.  Almost every shift.  We even scored short handed.  It was awesome and the kids really started to show some great determination and positioning.  One of the crazy things that happened is really one of my firsts.......Gavin Mcgahey-Smith scored all 9 goals for us.  That's right again......all 9 goals.  Can you believe it???  Every time he was on the ice it seemed, he was rushing the puck up the ice and shooting on their goalie.  And now that I mention it, the Red squad had a tyke goalie playing....Brodi Borczch.  He was awesome.  It was a good game and it could have went either way.  Nice job blue squad....you never gave up.

As far as our Cougar of the game......it goes to Robert Jonkhans.  He just started playing centre and is really tearing it up with his electrifying rushes and feroscious back checking.  NICE JOB ROBERT!!!!

Now for Sundays game.  It got a little tense for the coach today as players started dropping like flies and when it was all said and done, we only showed up in St. Marys with 9 players.  But do you think that got these Hooligans down????  No way. They were extatic and it showed on the ice.  Shift after shift they dug and they dug, they out hustled and out worked, they skated and they rushed.  It was awesome.  But the most impressive thing was........they played their positions, which they just learned........to perfection.  Even our goalie Matty stayed at the top of the crease today and the mighty St. Marys couldn't find a hole to shoot at.  And they all learned that when they play their positions, good things happen.  I have many examples to give you, but to keep it short, the best one was when Katie Amos was staying on her own side of the ice and was standing all alone.  All of a sudden, the puck squirted out to her and away she went.  Rushing down the ice with the puck.  It was awesome.  I couldn't stop grinning.  When it was all said and done, all of our hard work paid off as we topped the Rock 6-2.  As usual, Gavin showed up on the score sheet 3 times, but our Cougar of the Game today was Jack Harding.  Out of nowhere, he was able to penetrate their formiddable defense numerous times and scored 3 times.  AMAZING!!!!  CONGRATULATIONS JACKER!!!

Another busy week ahead and I can't wait to see what is in store.  SEE YOU AT THE RINK!!!!  Coach Jamie.
