Aylmer Fall Rep Challenge Champions!!
The Mt.Brydges Cougars Atom Rep team traveled to Aylmer this past weekend to take on challenges from Tillsonburg, Caledonia, Mt.Forest and the home centre, Aylmer.

The cougars had an early game on Friday which meant. Yes a day off school.
The home centre Aylmer were their first challenge. With coming to a quick lead the cougars never looked back and beat the Flames 6-0.
The next opponent that day was the Tillsonburg Tornadoes. With getting 4 goals on the first 4 shifts. This seemed to take the wind right out of Tillsonburg's sails. The cougars went on to win 5-1.
The final round robin game saw the cougars face the Caledonia Thunder. The cougars again came right out of the gate with another first shift goal. After the game settling down the Thunder answered back to tie it up 1-1. The Thunder then went on to get 2 unanswered goals to take the lead 3-1. Forcing the cougars to dig a little deeper. They got 1 goal back to end the second period down 3-2. The third period proved to be a nail biter. Both teams exchanged good scoring opportunities and saw great saves by both goalies. With a quick shot by Caledonia. The puck hit iron and went in the net to further their lead 4-2. But wait!!!! Did the puck go in? With the cougars unable to use their coach's challenge video review. The call stood and the cougars had to finish the game upset. With pulling the goalie the cougars netted 1 more goal to keep it close but the end result was a 4-3 lose. Upon further review of the goal with help of a parent actually video taping the complete game. The puck hit the cross bar and came directly out. This left a bitter taste in the mouth of the cougars.
With the cougars having a 2 and 1 record through the round robin. They were off the the semi-finals vs Mt.Forest.
This was a very hard fought game. With no goals scored in the first and both teams exchanging goals in the second. The teams were setting up for a great third period. With the cougars getting and early third period goal to take the lead. The cougars held on the win the game 2-1. Sending them to the finals for a rematch against Caledonia.
The championship game started off not as planned. Caledonia open the scoring in the first 20sec of the game. The cougars answered back a minute later to tie it up. The cougars went on to take the lead 2-1 before the end of the first. With both teams battling hard. The Thunder got a second period goal to tie the game up and setting up a third period showdown between the two teams.
With both teams skating their hearts out and exchanging goal scoring opportunities. The cougars netted the final dagger with 1:40sec to go in the game. The cougars held on to win the tournament.

Great job this weekend team. Your coaching staff, parents and families are all very proud of you!!!!
