Midget Gold, U18, 2011-2012 (Mt Brydges Minor Hockey)

They were seeded #1 after the preliminary round with wins over Lambton Shores and host Delhi, earning a bye to the semi-finals.In the semis they dismantled New Hamburg 3-0 setting a #1 versus #2 against Simcoe. The final was a very close game and ended in the 2nd OT when Iain Popp stole the puck from a Simcoe defenceman, went in on a breakaway, deked and deposited the winner into the goal! Derrick Vanderelst was outstanding in goal, surrendering only 2 goals in 4 games - great work by the defence (thanks to Sam and Michael who moved back to shore up a depleted defence), and a hardworking ...
