Game 2 of the Dorchester tournament proved to be one of the most confusing and disappointing displays of officiating we have seen this season.  The Refs surely had Goderich colours on under their stripes this hour.  On second thought they weren't refs at all.  I appears they showed up at the wrong mall for their afternoon shift at footlocker.  I will refer to them as Ref A: Oliver and Ref B: Hardy.
Dean  inserts the first goal late in the first period but it was quickly answered by Goderich with 30 seconds left to tie it up.  At this point the game was pretty much under control and a well played first period.
The beginning of the second period is the marking point of the neutral zone becoming the Twilight Zone as Ref B:Hardy AKA Captain Scruffybeard ejected Joel from this game for Checking from behind for what was at most incidental head contact from a clean check.
Our protests were in vane as Ref B:Hardy needed to keep the game going to ensure he was not late for his optometrist appointment scheduled right after our game.
It became clear to us that not only was this ice pad a bit smaller than its counterpart but when the archaeologists were dusting off the play surface this fall they painted the Blue Lines about 4 feet off their mark.  Unfortunately for us only our appointed striped comedians were aware of this and gave the thumbs up for the next two off side goals punched in by Goderich in the second.  Although Ref B:Hardy AKA "Sorry bout that Call" handed Phil 2 min for unsportsmanlike conduct he became quickly accustomed to profanity as he was lambasted by a tirade of viscous guttural remarks from a Goderich player without reply. It may have become apparent that his penalty gun was now empty of rounds and he had to reload before the third period.
Our boys put on a solid showing in the third closing the gap with two goals from Phil but the refs were wise to our tricks at that point and had realized we had transplanted a hockey stick into deans arm as he grabbed a puck out of the air only to receive a high sticking for his effort.
Callum came to the bench in the closing seconds and they did the best with what we had and could not tie it up.
