Midget Girls Tournament Champs!
MIDGET B GIRLS PINK IN THE VALLEY CHAMPS
The Midget B Girls were crowned as Champions of the Clearview Ice Cats Pink in the Valley tournament in Alliston last weekend. The team opened with a 0-0 tie against Kitchener, followed by wins over North Halton (4-0), Scarborough (5-0) and Norfolk (2-0) to complete the round robin portion with no goals against, thanks to the strong goalkeeping of Julianna Johnson.
The Cougars won the rematch
against North Halton 3-2 in a tightly contested championship game. Every forward scored on the weekend, led by Shannen Rowe with 4 goals, Sara Hill with 3 and Cory McGrath with 2. Melanie Poirier, Katie Rowe, Sydney Lapointe, Karsyn Summers and Megan McGill all chipped in with single markers. The strong play of Rebecca Werden, Sophie Vriends, Aly VanRooyen, Grace Lankin and McGill on defence were key in keeping the goals against down and making Jules’ job easier.
