Bantam Rep Wins OMHA Championship
Submitted By Jon Fletcher on Sunday, March 31, 2013
The Bantam Rep Cougars culminated the 2012-13 season with a five-game Finals title with the series win over the Penetang Flames.
The series was a see-saw battle with

Home Ice prevailing until the deciding game five. The Flames put the Cougars on their heels in game one in Penetang, jumping ahead early and then hung on for a 7-6 victory. The Cougars roared back at home with a definitive 7-2 decision and then a come-from-behind 6-3 result in game three. The Cougars roared back to Penetang for the Saturday game four looking to finish things off, but, it wasn't to be as the Flames played well and held on 4-3 and it was off to game five.
Sunday afternoon couldn't come early enough for the Bantam Cougars as they just wanted to get at it. The Penetang barn was packed but the noise for the Cougars was huge as sirens made their way up north and the friends, fans and families really cranked the decibels for the Boys!
It ended up being a perfect time for the Cougars to have one of their finest games of the season, with great tending by Ryan McGrath, solid discipline in staying out of the box, excellent all-around defensive play and then the offense that was needed as Treyton Doxtator potted a pair meshed around singles by Joey Doxtator, Max Ewart and Jacob Smith as they held the lead throughout and won the OMHA championship with a 5-2 victory!
The OMHA title -the third one for the majority of this team - is the culmination of a spectacular season as the Boys won the North American Silverstick Title in January plus three other tournament championships in the fall. The Team's final record for League/Tourney/Playoff games ended up at 48-8-4.
The Bantam Rep team players are Goaltender Ryan McGrath, Defensemen Joey Doxtator, Tim Hopkins, Hugh Howie, Liam Moore and Nathan Tales, plus, Forwards Max Ewart, Bradley Hyde, Darren Grainger, Jacob Smith, Hayden Regnier, Johnathon Berkmortel, Jacob Speed, Treyton Doxtator, Joe Capirchio and Michael Rocheleau.
Head Coach is Jon Fletcher, Asst Coaches Ben Hillen and Alix Chisholm and Trainer Kevin Kolkman plus Manager, Mark Moore.
Great job and Great Season, as the Bantams have become the second Cougars team to win the North American Silverstick and OMHA Titles in the same season!!
Proud of you Boys!!
