Bantam A Captures International Silverstick Title
The Bantam Rep Cougars competed in the North American Silverstick Finals on the weekend of Jan 25-27 in Forest and captured the Finals title with a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over the Bancroft Jets in spite of a depleted roster due to injuries.

The Cougars fell behind in the first period 2-0 and were down to ten skaters when hard work and fortunes started paying dividends. After battling back to a 2-2 tie in the second, the boys fell by one again in the third before two late markers sealed a phenomenal effort and the 4-3 final score!
The round-robin saw the Cougars fall 3-0 to Bancroft before righting themselves with a 5-1 victory over the host Lambton Shores and then a strong 4-2 must-win victory over highly-touted St Clair Shores, MI. The 2-1 record moved the Cougars into the Semis to cross-over against the first place Rome, NY squad which the boys upended 2-1 in overtime in another huge effort. That set things up for the rematch with the Bancroft Jets in the Championship final and the 4-3 victory. The Cougars players include Ryan McGrath, Joey Doxtator, Tim Hopkins, Nathan Tales, Hugh Howie, Liam Moore, Max Ewart, Jacob Speed, Jonathan Berkmortel, Darren Grainger, Jacob Smith, Bradley Hyde, Treyton Doxtator, Hayden Regnier and Joe Capirchio. Coaching staff are the non-parent crew of Jon Fletcher, Ben Hillen, Alix Chisholm and Kevin Kolkman. This was a superlative team effort but also saw three Cougars recognized for their individual efforts and named to the tournament all-star team. Ryan McGrath was named allstar goalie, Joey Doxtator on defense and Max Ewart on forward. Congrats boys!
This International title becomes Mount Brydges fourth boys championship over the last thirty-five years and second in the Bantam age-group. Way to go Cougars!!
