Hello families of the Atom Blue hockey team,
This past week, we have had the opportunity to watch our kids play a number of games.
During each game, we have seen some of our kids "catch fire!" This is what we call it in the change room when one or more of our kids plays exceptionally well. We have seen it during our tournaments and regular season games where "someone steps-it-up" and plays incredibly well.
We witnessed one of our own during these games where the opposing team continually peppered him with shots. He made save after incredible save. They shot from everywhere on the ice. Some shots were high, some low, some blocker side, some glove side, a couple of breakaways and they even tried going "5-hole" on him. It did not matter. He stopped everything earning the team a 2 - 0 shutout!!
Our Player of the Week is also participating in Larry Gazdigs Power Skating Plus on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday to improve his skating abilities AND attends clinics every other Sunday to increase his goaltending skills. Our Player of the Week gives our defenseman the confidence to take the puck deep in the oppositions end, because they know that he is our last line of defense, and he will do everything he can to keep the puck out of the net. He continually impresses us with his spectacular gloves saves, butterfly saves and is amazing at stopping breakaways!! He is always the first in the change room, and last to leave. You can usually find him running around the arena after the games with his "hockey buds." Our Player of the Week Certificate, Puck and Cougar Cup goes to:
