On the weekend, the Atom Rep team headed to The 43rd Gene Harrington Shootout Classic in Niagara Falls, New York.
Game One- They played a fast and skilled team from Virginia. With the boys' hard forecheck and tenacious backcheck, the Virginia boys didn't stand a chance. Cougars came out on top 6 to 1.
Game Two- The boys played against a team from Milton, Ontario. In the first period, Milton got a lucky one past our goaltender. With four minutes left in the third period, our boys put a tic-tac-toe play to even the score. Milton got a breakaway with only 30 seconds left pulling ahead 2-1.
In Game Three against Dundas, Ontario, Cougars have to win to move into finals. Goals against must be low to stay strong. With one of their stronger players out due to sickness, and there goalie creating a wall the Cougars came away with a 5 to 0 victory!
Championship Game- Mt Brydges Atom Rep vs. Milton. With back-and-forth play against Milton, Cougars take a 2-0 commanding lead. With two minutes left to play, our boys had a penalty called against them and with their goalie pulled Milton slides one by us. After this Cougars would not allow them to enter our zone and claim victory.
