Game 17
We made our way to Point Edward yesterday for the last time we would face this team in the regular season. So far we have not been able to bring home a victory from this barn, we were hopeful the stars align and we finally defeat this tough opponent......
Unfortunately our hopes were dashed early in the 3rd period. We started out strong and played toe to toe with Point Edward in the first two periods. Craig Kopal was first to score at the 6:42 mark of the 1st period assisted by Blaine Powless and Colton Cordeiro. The first period would end tied at 1 each after Point Edward scored with about 2 minutes left in the 1st period.
More great effort followed in the 2nd period however PE would be first to score at the 9:35 mark. Colton Cordeiro answered back at 7:26 assisted by Jackson Emerick to tie it at 2 each. We kept pressing but ran into the same type of difficulty we have faced in previous contests with this team. Their big defense limited our offensive opportunities in their zone. Point Edward would score the go ahead goal at the 5:07 mark of the 2nd period. Early in the 3rd period Paolo Casavecchia would blast one from high in the slot after a beautiful pass from Colbey Relou at the 14:15 mark. Unfortunately, Point Edward managed to score 3 quick ones on us at 9:49, 9:33 and again at 8:03.
With the score now 6-3, the kids just lost the drive to push hard for the remainder of the game and time ticked away with no further scoring.
Point Edward is definitely a team that can be beaten, we just haven't put together 3 solid periods against them yet. Hopefully we'll get another chance in the playoffs.
