Game 10
Our game today against the Aylmer Black team marks the mid way point in our regular season of 20 games, hard to believe it but it's true. The good news is we still have tournaments and playoffs to factor in so there is still tons of hockey left. Play on Golddiggers....
We had a good compliment of players today with just 2 out of the lineup and boy, what a difference it made. Our kids played well right from the first faceoff. It took Carson Kechego just 33 seconds to post the first goal assisted by Blaine Powless and Paolo Casavecchia. That was the start we were looking for! The rest of the 1st period was back and forth trading chances, both goalies made some key saves and the score would stay 1-0 through the first period.
Our team continued playing very well and everyone seemed to be clicking nicely. Carson was eager for more and buried his 2nd goal of the game at the 6:14 mark of the 2nd assisted by Lynden Luis. About 5 minutes later Carson earned the sombrero when he completed the hat trick with his 3rd goal of the game. Colton Cordiero is credited with the assist this time.
The third period went by without any scoring at either end. Our defense was working well today with Jackson paired with Dustin and Lynden paired with Cole. Ben thanks these all important defense crew for a solid performance and helping him keep the shutout intact. Ben was sporting his fancy new pads today and I'm glad he put together a solid performance in net and got the shutout. Hopefully the confidence he gained in the new gear will help in future games.
Before closing I want to shout out a big congratulations the Mount Brydges PeeWee AE team for winning the Silver Stick Regional Qualifier tournament in South Huron today. They are off to the International Silver Stick finals in Pelham. Good luck and all the best.......GO AE'S GO!
