Playoff Game 1
The post season has officially started and a bit of fog was not going to keep us from making the trek to Point Edward tonight. The drive was clear sailing and the goldiggers showed up to play hard. Everyone has us pegged as the underdog in this series, the fun will rest in trying to prove everyone wrong.....

The first period wasn't great but really not that bad either. Point Edward opened the scoring after some chances at both ends. We played hard and managed to tie it up at the 4:05 mark at the end of our first power play. The goal goes to Sammy Stuart assisted by Carson and Logan. The Point Edward offense kept pressing and got two more quick ones on us before the end of the 1st period making it 3-1 going into the 2nd with #14 scoring all 3 PE goals in the first unassisted. We'll have to do a better job shutting him down if we want to beat this team.
In the 2nd period it was the other Point Edward dudes turn,#18 who scored at the 9:23 mark. I didn't think we were playing too bad but we just didn't seem to be getting too many scoring opportunities. The team was pressing and skating hard but we just couldn't narrow the gap.
In the 3rd we were playing solid and giving them a good game, Logan Doxtator "The Loganator" was working hard all game as usual and it paid off with 13:14 left to play assisted by AJ Duffy. The score is now 4-2. Ben was called upon to make solid saves to keep it a 2 goal game until the 7:25 mark when Point Edward made a nice pass across the high slot and scored the 5th of their game. A few more penalties were called on them but we couldn't capitalize and get the puck in the net. Spencer Whitney was all over the oppositions net today but the puck would just not go in. The strong effort was there but the bounces didn't go our way and he opportunities just didn't convert until Zac Fisher scored on the power play with just 7.3 seconds left to play assisted by Spencer Whitney and Carson making the final score 5-3.
Point Edward takes game 1 but we'll be ready for game 2. The Goldiggers will work harder than ever and try to even up the series on Saturday. Great job today everyone! GO COUGARS GO!
