Game 19
Port Stanley was the destination on Friday night, the Sailors were our adversary in this game 19 of our regular season. The Goldiggers need to try and bounce out of the slump we have been in the last couple games. Matt had the start today and Ben finished between the pipes. Here is what happened...
We came out with a solid effort, not our best game ever but certainly not our worst either. We were the better team on the ice and out played our opponent for the majority of the contest. We had far more scoring opportunities than our opponent but the goal scoring just didn't happen enough. The shots went wide,or off a leg, or over the net, or the goalie saved it. Whatever the case, Will Stewart was the only Goldigger to score assisted by Michael Duffy at the 12:03 mark in the 3rd. The Sailors managed to tie it up on a power play at the 10:37 mark which would end up being be the final score, a tie game at 1 each. I`ll give credit to the Port Stanley goalie for a very solid performance and keeping us to a single goal.
Today is a new day, Lambeth is coming to town tonight so get pumped and lets finish the regular season off on a high note. Treat every shift on the ice as a challenge to be the best you can be. Skate hard, be strong on the puck, play smart and hit the net! GO COUGARS GO!
