Game January 30
The East Lambton Eagles White gang welcomed us to their barn in Watford for their last regular season game of the year. We came prepared for a tough challenge against this good team.....or did we?????..........
We seemed flat in this game! The East Lambton squad was out hustling us at every turn and the play was mainly in our end for the first period. I'm not sure how this happened but we managed to get 3-4 shots on their net in the first and two managed to get past the goalie. Our first goal was scored by Aiden Sinclair unassisted at the 7:57 mark then with 3 minutes left in the the first period Aiden scored again assisted by Blake Scatcherd. With 2:43 left in the first East Lambton scored after an unlucky bounce went their way making it 2-1.
The second period saw lots of laxidaizical effort on our team. We weren't aggressive on the puck and our opponent continued to out hustle us. Ben was making some key saves to keep us in the lead so no scoring occured until 36 seconds remained in the second when Brett Fair got a break away and scored after a nice move to beat their goalie.
We were just hanging on in the 3rd period, East Lambton was determined to get back in this game and kept pressing but we managed to keep the puck out of the net until the 5:50 mark when one slipped past Ben narrowing the gap to one goal. East Lambton stepped up their efforts and the last 5 minutes was sure to be a tough battle if we were to hang on for the win. They pulled their goalie with 1:40 left for the extra attacker and tried hard but we managed to keep the puck out of our net and sneak out of Watford with two points.
Some good points to mention today, Spencer Emerick did a great job after being moved up from defence to left wing in order to fill in for Dillon Lynch who was out of the lineup due to illness. Great job in your new spot Spencer! The line of Brett,Brayden and Tanner played well together and created a few chances that could have added to the score board.
We have one game left before playoffs Sunday (today) in Strathroy at 3:00pm. We need to come out hard and prepare for the tough road looming ahead in the playoffs. It'S GAME DAY...ARE YOU READY!!!!
