Player of the Week
Hello Atom Blue Parents and Players,
This past week we witnessed one of our players step-up when we needed him the most. We had arranged for our AP goalie to play in absence of our goalie but due to a scheduling conflict, he could not make it. This situation put the team in a desperate position.
Who would play net??
Our Player of the Week accepted this challenge and played stellar. This was his first time in net this year, had never put on the goalie equipment, and did not have a single practice playing net this season. Even though the odds appeared to be stacked against him, he made some crazy saves and let his team to a 7 - 5 win!
The following game, our Player of the Week played his usual position of defense against a very strong team from Point Edward. He made some key defensive plays, out muscling the opposition in the corners and along the boards. He shoed us his patented move of "skate behind the net, stop, change direction and confuse the attackers", all while maintaining possession of the puck. He also showed us his tremendous speed and skill when he went from one end of the ice to the other. Weaving through 5 players and burying the puck! A goal that even the legendary #4 Bobby Orr would be proud of.
Our Player of the Week made all of his practices and games. He is one of the fastest skaters on the team and is always giving 110% effort. He is the strong-silent type of hockey player who lets his crazy hockey skills speak for him. His wrist shot is a laser and accurate. He can skate as fast as anyone in the Atom division and consistently wins puck battles against the best forwards in the league.
