Peewee Rep Regional Silver Stick Finalists!!
What an exciting week of hockey!

The Cougars had Silver Stick over the past 2 weekends and they made everyone proud.
The Cougars faced on day 1, Goderich who they beat 10-0 and on day 2 they faced Ingersoll who at the end of 3 periods were tied 2-2. That meant overtime which you play 3on3. Ingersoll scored in overtime at the 2min mark to win 3-2. These were two very exciting games which meant the Cougars would have to play a 1/4 final game vs Petrolia.

Against Petrolia the game went back and forth with many chances for both teams to score. The Cougars opened the scoring in the first which would carry through to the 3rd period. Petrolia tied the game up at the 7min mark of the 3rd period and the game ended 1-1 after 3 periods. So you guessed it. Overtime again. With line juggling and pushing kids to dig deep. The Cougars and Oilers traded scoring opportunities, hit posts and saw great saves by both goalies. At the 12min mark of the 4th period the Cougars skated down and sniped a puck five hole to end the game and send the Cougars to the semi final vs Ilderton.

The last outing vs Ilderton saw the Cougars lose 3-2. So some redemption was needed. In the first period the game went back and forth and ended 0-0. In the second period the Cougars took the lead at the 6min mark and then the Jets tied it up shortly after. The teams exchanged scoring chances and both net minders were awesome. The 3rd period ended with a 1-1 score and again overtime was needed to solve this game. The Cougars were running out of gas being that this was their 3rd game in a row that needed overtime to end it and the parents knew it. How much longer can they hang on but with a blast from the blue line and a nice bounce off the boards. The puck was shot in the Jets net and the Cougars were off to the finals. Setting the stage vs Lambeth.

The game was intense, fast with tons of opportunities at both ends to score. The Cougars opened the scoring in the first. Lambeth answered back 5min later to tie it up. In the second the Lancers took the lead and would not look back from there. The Cougars energy was depleating quickly. The 2 previous overtime games were quickly catching up with them. The Lambeth team came out in the 3rd scoring a quick goal to take any wind out of the sails that the Cougars might have had. But you never say die to this team though. They hit 2 more posts, got great goaltending, challenged any battle Lambeth could muster. But just couldn't get the puck to go in. With the final buzzer going, the Cougars lost 3-1 or as I would like to put it. Learned!! (thanks Dave)
It was a great game. Not the result we wanted but still a great game.

Now with Silver Stick done. Or is it?????

The Cougars had a representative from Forest come into the room after the game and invite the team to International Silver Stick. The kids exhausted faces soon turned into smiles and the thought of a chance to redeem themselves.
As this group has shown us all this year. With a strong work ethic and a FAMILY that has your back. Anything is possible....

Great tournament boys, I am very proud of all of you.
