Playoff Round 1, Game 6
Game 6 in a 6 point series.....what more can I say. You gotta know it is going to be "on the edge of your seat" stuff!!! The $3.00 gate fee was a bargain tonight for our parents and families!!!! I really didn't think Novice hockey could deliver so much intensity and excitement in a local league hockey game.....

we had our backs against the wall for the first time tonight. The energy was high and everyone was pumped and ready to do battle against a very strong opponent from Aylmer. We had to come back strong after the 5-1 beating we suffered in game 5......that is exactly what happened tonight!!!! Novice Red was not about to roll over! The game started with both teams flying....everyone knew the first goal was crucial.
After 1 minute and 35 seconds Quin Wardell made a beautiful break and made no mistake...he buried a very powerful wrist shot to put us up by one, the assists go to Cole Abbey and Cole Haywood. The fist period continued with end to end action, with 3:18 left on the clock Aylmer tied the game after we got a bit loose in our own end.
Period 2 was nothing less than an all out battle!!! Both teams were determined to take the lead. At the 5:34 mark  Aylmer scored to take the lead. We really pushed the high intensity frame of mind and to keep playing hard. The kids responded and only 27 seconds later Gavin Hern scored after a great break and beautiful goal. The assist went to Ben Watson. The 2nd period ended with 2 goals each.
The energy was high and both teams were pumped.....the season is on the line and nobody wants to lose such a close series!!! Period 3, here we go......Novice Red came out flying! These kids were on a mission. After 1 minute, 21 seconds Quin found some open ice and went to town scoring his 2nd of the game unassisted. Just over a minute later Cole abbey hit pay dirt with a beauty goal assisted by Gavin and Ben. There was still lots of time left on the clock and I didn't think for a second this game was over, Aylmer does not give up! We had to keep everyone pumped and playing hard. With 5:39 left on the clock Aylmer scored and narrowed the score to a 1 goal differential. The pressure was just turned up a notch and the feeling of having a tiger by the tail was back with full force. Our team managed to hold off the pressure and keep Aylmer at bay and run the clock down. Boy, that was the longest 5 minutes and 39 seconds of my life. In the end, Novice Red comes away with the win and moves on to face another great opponent in Novice White for the B Division championship.
Every player gave all they had today and I think that is why we defeated this great team. I thought DJ Elijah played a very strong game today and our big guns were scoring. We will need to keep this up moving forward.
Congratulations to Quin Wardell, our Heart & Hustle award winner tonight! Great job Quin, keep it up!

Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and friends in the stands for making noise and cheering so loud. We heard you loud and proud! Bring on White!
GO RED GO!
