Novice Rep Regional Silverstick Champions
Congratulations to our Novice Rep team who worked extremely hard over the past week in Parkhill to become Regional Silverstick Champions.
Our first game against the Lambeth Lancers ended as a big win for the Cougars, next we would see an Ilderton Jets team that was looking for redemption from a previous loss in exhibition. The game was extremely close with chances and goals being traded at each end, Ilderton would eventually end up with the win.
We would then meet with Lambeth once more, the players regrouped from the previous loss, shook off some Christmas cheer and came prepared to battle. The win moved us to the semi-finals against Wallaceburg. The Cougars would not look back as they peppered the Wallaceburg goalie with shot after shot but nothing seemed to go in. Eventually Wallaceburg got a break and took the lead, which would not last long as the Cougars kept coming and tied the game. The cougars would go on to win 5-2, advancing the team to the finals against an undefeated South Huron team.
With hard work and team play the Cougars would go on to win convincingly 7-2. International Silverstick here we come!
Thanks to the players and coaching staff for working together on and off the ice, thanks to the parents for changing Christmas plans to drive the boys back and forth to Parkhill and thanks to all our friends and families who came out and cheered us on!!
