The Midget AE Cougars are heading off to Pelham for International Silverstick after being finalists at two Regional Silverstick Qualifiers in recent weeks.
In November, Midget Ae went to Collingwood for their SStick qualifier and went 2-1 in pool play, defeating Newcastle 4-1 and Midland 7-0 before dropping a 2-0 decision to St Marys. In the semis, the Cougars beat the host Collingwood 3-2 to set up a rematch with the Rock.
The championship final was a classic battle which saw a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. Overtime solved nothing so a shootout ensued. St Marys outduelled our shooters 2-1 to take the Title.
Next up was the South Huron Regional in December. The Cougars came out a little slow and put themselves in a tough spot right out of the chute, losing 2-1 to Kincardine. They had to run the table and did, winning 6-0 over Blenheim and 2-1 over Strathroy to set up a semi-final vs Ayr who the Cougars edged 2-1 to move into another Sstick final-this time with Mooretown.
The Cougars held a 1-0 lead early in the third, but, could not finish with a strong final-frame as the Storm got three unanswered in six minutes to defeat the Midgets 3-1.
