Regional Silver Stick Champions!!!
We did it! The Peewee AE team are Silver Stick Champions!!

The Cougars started their weekend off by playing Wallaceburg and Ilderton on the Friday. They won both of their games 11-0 and 5-0. With having a perfect 1.0 average going into the 3rd game against Petrolia on Saturday. The Cougars needed to keep their goals against down and goals for high. That would secure their birth to the semi's on Sunday. But with a few changes to the rules and an upset in another game. The Cougars just needed to win to move on. And they did just that. They beat their tough league rival Petrolia 4-2 which secured their spot into Sunday's semi finals.

The Cougars set their eyes on Ayr and they didn't shy away. The Cougars won 6-1 setting up a final against another league rival, Lambeth.

Lambeth proved right off the hop that they deserved to be there and they were determined to win this game. The game went end to end for most of the first period with Mt.Brydges scoring first then it was disallowed. With frustration setting in quickly, we answered again and finished the first period 1-0.
With Mt.Brydges getting into some penalty trouble in the second. There were playing 5 on 3 and Lambeth answered with a high heater and evened up the score, 1 all. With time ticking down in the second the Cougars retained their lead and went up 2-1 heading into the 3rd.
With a mid third period goal and a 3-1 lead. The Cougars looked to finish Lambeth off. Then another penalty was accessed to Mt.Brydges and then the stress started to mount for all the players and fans. But with persistence and a perfect penalty kill. Not a shot came near the goalie. With one last effort by Lambeth to make the game close. They pulled their goalie and the Cougars put one more into an empty net to seal the deal.
I could finally breathe then. We did it! We won. We are Silver Stick Champions!!

I would like to thank all the parents for everything they did to prepare their kids for this weekend. It showed by how they were ready to go before every game.

The kids played their hearts out all weekend and by them all sticking to the game plan. They would not be denied their 4th tournament championship for the year.

Congratulations boys and girl. You are all very deserving of this accomplishment. But were are not done yet!

International Silver Stick is Jan 9-12/2014 in Pelham ON.

Watch out. We could make some noise in Pelham.

Good luck to all the Rep teams that will be in their own Silver Stick tournaments around Christmas.
