Strathroy AE Olympic Champions!!
Even Old Man Winter dumping on us this weekend, couldn't stop us.
The Mt.Brydges Peewee AE team travelled to Strathroy to play in the AE Olympics this past weekend.
The Cougars faced a tough battle right off the hop with the home team Rockets on Friday. With a tired bunch that I think wanted to be in school that day. LOL The Cougars were able to find a way to win and sneak by the host team with a 2-1 score.
Next up was Petrolia, a team that we see in our regular league. With showing a never give up attitude. The Oilers battled and battled but finally the Cougars were able to pull away to a 10-4 win.
Saturday morning was a new team that we had not seen. Orangeville. The Flyers skated with us for the first period but eventually we wore them down and put 5 goals behind their goalie to win 5-0.
Saturday afternoon, we had to face another league opponent St.Marys. The Rock showed us in this game that they were ready for us. With having just played them 2 times in the last week. They were catching on to our plays. They battled hard but couldn't get nothing behind our net minder and we won 6-0. Putting us in the finals on Sunday.
We had to wait to see who we would face. Petrolia or Strathroy. Petrolia ended up making it to the finals to face us.
The Cougars got on the Oilers first and never looked back. With great passing, back checking, shooting and just simple awesome team effort. The Cougars won the game and championship 6-0.
Step by step, we will reach our goal!!
