Tartan Tournament Champions
This past weekend the Atom Gold team participated in their first tournament of the year in Glencoe.  By the end of the weekend we finished the championship game down four players and 2 coaches but our kids played strong and with a lot of heart to win the championship game in shoot outs.

Our first game, Friday night, was against the hometown team and our kids went out to prove why they were undefeated in the regular season.  By the end of the game the game we won 8-0.  Saturday afternoon we played against the Thamesford Attack and ended up winning 10-4.  We played our final round robin game Sunday morning against Wallaceburg and won 6-0.  Off to the semi-finals against Lucan.  We won 5-0 and a berth in the finals.  In the finals we played a strong tough team from Blenheim.  The game was a close game and at the end of regulation it was tied 3 to 3.  Overtime decided nothing and we went to a shoot out.  In the shootout Memphis and Kristian both scored and Griffin stopped both of the Blenheim players to earn us the win.

The game final showed what a great team we have.  Unfortunately we were missing Cary and Liam due to illness.  Tim and Kole were moved back to defence and played great.  Will had a great game until part way through the game illness struck him.  All of the kids skated hard even though we were getting roughed up and getting no support from the referees.  Jacob was a wall and a great protector to our goalie.  The true sign of a great team was seeing them watch their captain and friend Darius being taken off the stretcher and off to the hospital with 36 seconds left in regulation.  This is after Darius scored a hat trick for the team.  After things settled down the kids went out and played with their hearts and won the championship.  The remaining kids went out and skated hard. Aiden, Caden, Robert and Noah played hard and had a lot of ice time.

I want to thank the kids and the parents for their support throughout the tournament.  This is a great team and a team that I am proud to be able to coach.

Way to go Cougars.
