like the Leafs of ’42, the Atom A Cougars battled their way back from the brink
of elimination against the Junior Stars of North Middlesex.
After dropping the first two games 7-5 and
3-2 the Cougars
clawed their way back into the series with two heart-stopping wins, both by scores of 3-2. These scores flattered the opposition as the Cougars played the better part of the middle three games in the opposing zone but were unable to solve North Middlesex’s goaltender.
Game five proved to be more of the same. After scoring a short-handed goal three minutes into the first period the Cougars, many of whom were battling the flu, through sheer grit and determination hung on for the 1-0 win and the Shamrock Championship. Congratulations on a great season boys, your dedication and team play showed how champions are truly made. Thanks for your efforts and commitment to the team this season, you did everything we asked of you. Remember boys; Effort Takes No Skill. Coach W.
