What an amazing finish to the John Henry tourney for 2012!
The kids started slow on Thursday with a 4-1 loss to Ilderton. But we rebounded nicely on Friday with a 2-0 win versus Strathroy.
Now this is where it gets interesting.....Stay with me!
The kids played hard the whole game, with the play going end to end for most of it. We led for the most part 1-0, but Strathroy found a way to tie the game late in the 3rd. OT proved nothing and it was off to a shootout! We exchanged goals with the first few shooters, then the goalies stood on their heads not allowing any goals through the next 6 shooters. The crowds were gathering at the end glass and in the stands to watch the intensity play out! We had almost gone through our bench, when the calm, cool Jessica Gregory(tenth shooter) skated out to center ice to take her shot. (I actually told Shaun to record it, its goin in). She calmly skated towards the net and with the flick of a wrist placed the puck firmly in the back of the net, beating their goalie 5 hole while at our end Logan stopped their shooter. WE WIN!!! This was probably the BEST game I have watched in Logan's short career. A huge congrats to all the kids, their efforts paid off and we got the Gold medal!!!
