Game 3 Masterpiece
On Sunday, we marched into Thedford for Game 3 of the championship final. We were a little nervous as both the previous games were very tight.

I should say, I was a little nervous, but the kids definitely weren't.  We stomped out to an early lead :50 seconds in on a terrific goal by Gavin McGahey-SMith (assisted by Carson Vanderweg) and never looked back.  With 3:48 left in the first, Ethan Bond made a pass out front of the Predators net to Spencer Whitney.  Spence got the shot away and Cooper Alcock got the rebound, but the goalie made another outstanding save.  The two of them started digging and whacking away at it with Cooper finally poking it in.  With 2:05 remaining in the first, Nathan March shot the puck to the far corner of the net that was perfectly placed and just made it by the goalie for our 3rd goal of the period.

The rest of the game was owned by great defence and goaltending, as well as some terrific backchecking by everyone.  It really was the perfect game from my standpoint as the kids got to their positions without fail and hustled on every play.  I have to give the other team credit as they fought us just as hard and never gave up.  We just happen to have an answer for everything they threw at us.

Our player of the game was Matty McGuire who was awesome at both ends of the ice, making nice passes, getting in a few shots, and working hard to get the puck out of our end.  He played the perfect game......it just didn't show up on the game sheet.  Congratulations Matty.

We now have to get ready for Game 4 which is Friday night at 6 in Komoka.  It's gonna be a tough one, but it would be nice to close it out at home.

On another note, Cooper Alcock, Reece White-Eye, and Cameron Jones were selected as our 1 forward, 1 defenceman, and goalie to play in the All-Star game this year.  The game is at 1pm in Komoka on April 7th.  Congratulations guys and good luck.  We know you will represent us well.
