Off to the Championship Finals !!!!
Well. what a great battle by our Novice Blue over the last 2 weeks to advance to the Championship Finals starting next week. We don't know our oppoent yet but Lambeth 2 is leading Mt Brydges Red 5 pts to 3.

Game 1 saw a tight checking affair with Strathroy coming flying out of the gates and a 2-0 lead. The cougars had a little rust on their blades but came out strong in the 3rd popping in 3 goals in 5 minutes to take the lead. Strathroy did not give up and managed to sneak one by Ava with a little over minute to play. The game ended up in a 3-3 tie and 1 pt each

Game 2 was back in our own barn and both teams came to play again, good saves were made at both ends to keep it scoreless after one period. The Coaches asked the kids to step it up a notch and they did by a nice goal from Kevin bar down and Owen shortly after that with a nice deke. Strathroy got one back before the 3rd and made the cougars come out flying in the 3rd period. We had 2 goals by Carter, Josh & Luke put up one each for a final score of 6-1. Cameron and Kyle had a great game with 2 assists each

Game 3 back in Strathroy where the kids were thinking about that tie but we were in their end for most of the game. Their little goalie who played so great the first 2 was having a rough one that day. The kids were firing pucks left and right and passing like we had just practiced. It was the Jack show who was on fire. We ended up with 17 goals in the Strathroy net with goals to Jack, Owen, Josh, Kevin, Luke, Carter & Kyle. It was nice to see 24 assists on the gamesheet with Tyler, Hamish, Kevin & Luke with 3 and doubles for Erika, Tat, Kyle & Elijah Everyone hit the gamesheet with a great team effort and even Ava had an assist.

Game 4 with the Cougars up 5 pts to 1 and only needing a tie to move on. Strathroy knew they were on the ropes and came out fast and hard keeping the puck pinned in our end for the entire first shift. It was another sluggish start with a couple of kids not feeling well the day before. The cougars got 3 before the end of the first but we had a hard time containing the little #15 who was on fire for Strathroy who had 2 goals in a minute to cut it down to a 3-2 cougar lead. Each team traded goals in the 2nd and then we got an insurance marker in the 3rd from Owen to get his hat trick. Raileh was getting in the mix after missing the last 2 and got 2 assist for his effort today.

Good job Novice Blue, next stop, Championship Finals Vs UNKNOWN but we will be ready for them !!!

Thanks to the Hey family for the sour keys and gatoraide !
