Cougars Win Regional Silverstick
Congrats to all the players for a great Silver Stick Tournament this weekend in Alvinston. The Cougars beat Alymer, Wallaceburg, Strathroy and Lambeth in the finals. Our stingy team defence only allowed for 6 goals against in 4 games.

The Cougars started the tournament strongly on Boxing Day, defeating Alymer 7-1. All the players showed great effort and team play, with the line of Cain Grosbeck, Richie Albert and Jake Swatuk storming the opposition at every opportunity. In the second game, the Cougars defeated Wallaceburg 3-2. Despite being down 1-0, the Cougars fought back, killing a 2 man advantage and then tied the game. Their strong play continued and the Cougars built up a 3-1 lead and held off a surging Wallaceburg team's late charge to win 3-2. In the semi-final vs. Strathroy, the Cougars fell behind early 1-0 but, they continued their game plan and fought back to tie and then take the lead. The game ended 4-2. The Cougars went on the play Lambeth Lancers in the final. Despite allowing a Lambeth power play goal mid way in the 2nd period, the Cougars continued to pressure the Lambeth net with Liam Madill scoring a beautiful goal to tie the game. The game went into overtime and Stuart Ireland ended the nail biter of a contest with a rocket to the top corner. The Cougars move on to the International Silverstick January 27th-29 in Forest. The entire coaching staff is proud of the players and their efforts this past weekend. We would also like to thank our supportive parents, family, friends, and relatives for their vocal support. GO COUGARS GO!
