Tough defeats....
Team Blue had a home and home series with the Aylmer Flames over the weekend.
Game two was held in Komoka on Sat. The Blue came out strong with Shane O'Neill {assisted by Zach Sibley} tallying the first goal at 6:47 of the first period. The Blues held the lead until the second period when Aylmer scored two unanswered goals.
One minute into the third period Zach Sibley passed Ben Wilson the puck which resulted in the tying goal.
The teams battled back and forth for most of the third until the Flames added another goal. They added a fourth a few minutes later and stole a 4-2 victory away from the Blues.
On Sunday February 26th, the Blues returned to Aylmer for the third game of the series.
Knowing that this was due or die game, the Blues came out fully determined to take a win. Sibley and O'Neill worked their magic again with O'Neill scoring within one minute of the opening faceoff. Our strong defence and excellent goaltending held off countless attacks by the Flames.
In the second the Flames scored the tying goal. The game winner was scored with 2 minutes remaining in the third period.
The elusive win that the Blues wanted had slipped away. Aylmer won the series 3 games to none.
