PARKHILL TOURNAMENT 'A' DIVISION CHAMPS!
The Novice Black team showed up early Saturday morning in Parkhill to play in their last tournament of the season.  After five games in two days, the kids ended a fantastic season with an A championship win!  Way to Go Novice Black!

GAME #1 – Our first game was at 8AM against South Huron.  The kids were still sleeping in the first period but the buzzer at the end of the period definitely woke them all up.   The kids kicked it into gear and came back to win the game.  Jill Ireland played D and did a great job!  The final score was 5-2.  This tournament was great … after every game, both teams lined up on the ice and the Parkhill convener picked an MVP for each team.  The convener took to the ice and announced James Hipple as MVP for Novice Black.  James proudly accepted his MVP trophy.  Way to go James!

GAME #2 – The team spent the next few hours having something to eat and chilled out before our 12PM game against Lambton Shores.  This was a fun and high scoring game.  In this game, we saw everyone working hard and passing the puck.  Samara George played D this tournament.  It was amazing to see her battle at the blue line. She definitely gave it all she had.  The Black team won the game 9-2.  This time it was Luke Decker who was presented the trophy for MVP of the game.  Nice Job Decker!

GAME #3 – After yet another break in the Saturday schedule, the Black team was up against Ilderton Red.  We went head to head with Ilderton Red in the John Henry Tournament over Christmas.  It was 5PM and the kids had been in Parkhill since 7:15 in the morning.  The kids were tired but they dug deep and came out fighting.  Taylor Jones popped in her second goal of the season to break the tie during this game.  It was a close game but Novice Black didn’t lose this one!  The kids won this game 6-5.  Braeden Jones skated fast and hard all game and he was rewarded with the MVP trophy for this game.  You did great Jonzy!

GAME #4 – The Black team was notified late Saturday night that they were playing at noon on Sunday.  We got to the arena and were told we were up against the Strathroy Black team.  They were a strong and determined team.   Novice Black played a fantastic game!  One of the parents on the Strathroy Black team commented after the game, that our defense was “very strong”.   Good job Black!  Owen Babenko was awarded the MVP award for his contribution to a 5-2 win against Strathroy.  Thanks to the Mt. Brydges Red team for coming out to cheer for the Black team during this game.  The team appreciated the support!

GAME #5 – Novice Black moved into the A division championship game at 3PM.  This was a great game.  This game was fantastic to watch from beginning to end.  Will and Sam Stewart played awesome!! Ashton Boorman played a great game and even got a little breakaway.  Go Ashton!  Our super star goalie, Ava Persin made a spectacular glove save in this game.  Holy Moly, what a Goalie!!  Liam Georgeson was on fire, and determined the whole tournament.  It was this game that Liam Georgeson #30 was awarded the MVP award.  Go Liam Go!

Novice Black ended the tournament as A Champs!  The Delhi Rockets played hard and what a positive attitude their parents, coaches and kids had.  The parents cheered on their team the whole game.  The best part was the Delhi kids skated over to shake hands with each and every one of our kids and coaches.  It was AMAZING!  The Novice Black kids learned from the Delhi Rockets and after we received our medals, our kids made sure to skate over and shake their hands too.   Great sportsmanship, was the way the tournament ended :-)

A huge thank-you goes out to our OUTSTANDING coaching staff – Coach Brad, Coach Sean and Coach Ryan.  Thanks so much to Ailsa Georgeson for being our wonderful Parent Rep.   The Jones family kept our kids smelling fresh and clean all year – thanks for washing our jerseys!  Thanks to the team manager too.

AMAZING JOB NOVICE BLACK … you developed as hockey players, and had a ton of FUN!
